8 Steps to a $50/day Income Online

There are countless ways to earn a living online. The following is a list of steps that I refer to as the “Shampoo of Online Success”. What do you hopefully do in the shower regularly? Wash, rinse, repeat, wash rinse, repeat, etc. Repeating digital products or duplicating success on the Internet can be surprisingly easy. Here’s a great list of steps that I found scouring the forums.

1 Find a niche

Check out some forums, usergroups, and places like yahoo answers. See what kind of questions people are asking. Look for popular topics.

2 Keyword research

You can use the free tool over at digitalpoint.
Suppose you type in ‘any keyword’;

It will return to you a list of related key words and how often they are searched a day. Then go to Google and search the keyword (with ” ” around it) and see how many sites it will return. The fewer the better for now. Once you get the hang of online marketing I wouldn’t really worry about competition. Just build the better mouse trap.

3 Get a web hosting account

They are pretty cheap. Around 10 bucks a month for a good shared host. Stay away for free web hosts. They are not worth it. I strongly recommend hostgator.com. You can host unlimited domains there, and there price is under $10 a month. If money is an issue, do a search for hostgator coupons enter the code when you signup and the first month is only 1 penny.

4 Find or create your product

You can write your own info product or you can go to clickbank.com and chose a product for there. You will get a commission for each sale. (There are novels I could write about in this step, but to keep this post readable I’m assuming you have a product in mind.)

5 Create your site

Now you will want to create a content site. This only needs to be a few pages. You will want to put 10 articles on the site. Make good use of the keywords you researched. Also put out product on the site.

6 Set up an auto responder

This is optional if you REALLY don’t have the money, but it’s something you will need to do eventually. This will collect peoples emails on your website. You write a small report (you can base it off of your articles to save time) Have your visitors sign up to get the free report. Make sure you include a link to you product in the report.

7 Marketing

Remember those forums you looked up to find a good niche? You should start posting (not spamming) on them. Help people out, become an expert in your niche. You don’t really have to be an expert…but you should look like one. Share and help as many people as you can. Include a link you your site in you signature. Also places like yahoo answers. You can answer peoples questions and include a link in your resource box.

You will also want to submit articles to article directories such as EzineArticles.com.

Another good marketing tip is to exchange links with site in the same niche as you.

There are a lot of different marketing techniques you can use (too many to go into here, but this should get you started) Just search around the forums here.

8 Wash, Rinse, Repeat

Do this with several different niches. The more sites you have going, the more money you have coming in.

Give it a try! :D

Top 10 Secrets of Online Success

As an avid follower of WhyDoWork’s online forums you would know about our recent contest which asked our members what they plan on doing to grow their online business in the coming year. The result was a $150 to one of our lucky members and a plethora of valuable tips for our members and blog followers.

I have extracted some of the best advice found within those posts, and what I dub ‘the golden rules of success in the online world’. A lot of these tips can be applied not just online but in everyday life.

Enjoy.

1. Know your niche, research it. Whether you are out there doing a job, or promoting a product you need to be an expert. People rely on you to know it all and you should. Research should be ongoing and when new ideas fall into your realm you should be the first to know about it.

2. Believe in your self and what you are doing. It can be very disheartening to fail but it is a part of life. If you believe in what you are doing you can achieve.

3. Focus on what works, learn from what doesn’t and move on. It’s one thing to believe in something and another to take a step back and realize when something just isn’t working. Sometimes it can be hard to know when to reach that point but it is crucial, learn from those mistakes.

4. Plan on starting to work SMARTER and not just HARDER. This was a profound theme amongst our readers. Constantly revaluate what you are doing to see if there is a better way. Think about how you can earn a residual income so that each month becomes easier and more profitable.

5. Outsource. At WhyDoWork we do this all the time. There comes a point when it is more cost effective and beneficial to pay an expert rather than waste your skills doing something poorly. If your car breaks down do you research how to fix cars or take it to the mechanic? Focus on what you are good at.

6. Align yourself with good people. Whether it is an employer, affiliate company, outsourcers, lawyers, online contacts, or friends, a solid network of people makes all the difference. Networking both online and offline is crucial.

7. Treat ‘this’ as a job. Whether you are working an online job, writing posts in a blog, or are contributing in get paid to programs this is one of my favorite pieces of advice by our contest winner. Think of how you approach a job, you start on time, finish on time and work hard while you are at work. Even if you are sitting on your computer in your underwear you need to approach your tasks with the same level of seriousness if you want to succeed. (Don’t forget jobs have days off.)

8. Be organized. Get the necessary equipment you need in order to be more organized. Whether that is a prioritized to-do list or calendars filled out with milestones and goals it is important to have a quantitative means of measuring your ability to stay on track.

9. Find your motivation and revisit it. Whether it be an education for the kids, escaping debt, or your desire for a new Lamborghini, keep in mind why it is you are busting your butt so you can keep at it.

10. Set your goals and be realistic. You can’t expect to get rich overnight. There are millions of people out there competing for the same piece of the pie. Embrace those small successes because over time a lot of small achievements really add up.

I wish everyone the best of luck this year.

How I Got 18,000 Visitors for $100

I’ve been involved in online business long enough that I’ve tried pretty much every single form of advertising you can do on the Internet. With ad blindness on the rise, it’s up to webmasters and site owners to constantly be on the bleeding edge of innovation in order to get decent ad conversions.
Top Posts @ the WhyDoWork Blog

Before we get started, take some time to mouse over the “Top Posts” at the top left of the page. It will show how many readers have read each post. If you’re an RSS or email subscriber this means you’re going to have to actually visit the site to participate! The top three articles on this blog have all been read more than 18,000 times.

Keep in mind that all these articles are less than 3 months old and that is an amazing statistic. I credit this success entirely to StumbleUpon Ads. Well maybe my writing played a role in it, but it was StumbleUpon that was the spark to get things going.
How to Effectively Use StumbleUpon to Advertise

If you’re not sure what StumbleUpon is, take a break and check out this demo. StumbleUpon gives users a way to quickly “channel surf” the web and find sites they might not have normally visited. With their advertising program, you can pay $0.05 cents a visitor to have someone look at your page.

If a visitors gives your page or site a thumbs up, it will be shown on their homepage and it’s likely their friends on the site will see your page too. Check out this graph of a few days of my campaign:
su-ads

Important things to note in the image above are the text in blue, green, and red. Blue is the number of visitors I paid for, green is the percent of visitors that gave the page a thumbs up, and red is the number of visitors who gave the page thumbs down. Ideally you want the green bar (and the number of thumbs up) to be much larger than the red.

Having users give your content a thumbs up can translate into thousands of additional visitors. With a small budget of $10 per day and choosing to advertise specific articles (instead of just whydowork.com/blog) I’ve seen some great results!

5 Tips to Successfully Start a Work from Home Business

A lot of business owners have now decided to bring their business at home. This is because they encounter fewer problems when they start a home business. Even people who have lost their jobs are venturing into home business and gain control over their lives. We can attribute 60% of new businesses being put up by women at home. If you are one of those people who want to start a business you can follow for a successful home business.

1. Start finding a business that interests you. You need to find one specialty that you have for you to enjoy what you do because loving what you do would make you more successful. Then, work on promoting your business efficiently and smartly.

2. You should take the full responsibility for your work and for your success but never be afraid to ask for a hand if you need one. This venture is very different when you work for someone because your work will determine your own success and failure. This is your business and no one is to blame if it fails. Owners of business tend to fail when they do it hands-on.
3. Benchmark. People who are successful in their businesses learn from other successful people.

4. Always find a way to network success to those who you consider to be your market. Create 5 centers of influence so that when one fails you will have a back up. Focusing on your target market would give you a better result.

5. If you are afraid to invest in your business, you can actually start from business strategies like the direct sales or the network marketing. This is a business that would require low start up costs and it would also be a chance for you to learn about marketing.

Even if you have a job at present, do not be caught unready when your company decides to close down or lay off people. Be prepared for anything so that if something terrible happens, you will still have a source of income to provide for your needs.
